We all want to look good, at weddings, in school, and, of course, at the gym.

Looking good in the gym matters! And here’s a survey to back that up.

Many fitness enthusiasts report that they feel more motivated just by putting on their gym clothes. Some of them also say that gearing up boosts their motivation even when they did not feel like working out before.

No matter if you want some inspiration for new gym clothes, or if you are bored of your regular gym attire, here are 5 tips to help you look good during your workout sessions when the gym reopens again.

1. Be Fussy About the Fit

The first step to looking good in your gym looks or any outfit is to make sure that your clothes fit you well.

Ill-fitting clothes do not look flattering on any body type.

It goes without saying that size matters, especially for your workout gear.

  • Too big and loose, and you might have to readjust them often when you exercise
  • Too small and tight, it could result in a muffin top, and that’s not ideal or comfortable for working out

It doesn’t matter how stylish your gym clothes are, if they don’t fit well, then your outfit will never look as put-together as you want it to. Plus, some workout clothes are designed in a specific way because they have functions.

  • For sports bras, this could be giving you support
  • For leggings, it could be compression

If they don’t fit well, then it defeats the purpose of wearing them because they won’t be able to function as they should.

The fit matters for comfort, too! By wearing something that fits you properly, you can prevent some scratching and chafing.

In short: Get gym clothes that fit properly, so you can work out comfortably and in style.

2. Splash Some Colors

If your sportswear all fit you very well, and you just want to have more interesting gym looks, then you could consider adding some colors.

Go bold with bright colors like red, cobalt blue, or magenta, and let them bring lots of energy into your looks.

If loud and eye-catching colors aren’t your thing, you can go with muted versions of them. Darker colors like maroon, navy, and mulberry are all popular choices.

Alternatively, you can choose items that have colored highlights, like leggings with colored stripes down the sides or color block leggings. These items work just as well in helping you to stand out from plain workout outfits.

3. Go Wild with Prints

Adding prints is another great way to spice up your outfits!

Prints might be fashionably daunting for those who are not used to wearing them, but they are trendy and are a great statement piece if you style them the right way.

Some prints are also strategically placed on certain parts to highlight your best attributes using optical illusions (like the ones shown in the picture).

If you’ve maxed your levels in mixing and matching prints, then go for something eye-catching, like a pair of our colorful Honeycomb leggings

Some good print options include

  • Floral
  • Geometric
  • Animal (leopard and snakeskin print)
  • Dots & stripes
  • Tie-dye
  • Camo

On the other hand, if you’re new to prints and are not comfortable incorporating loud patterns in your outfits just yet, a tip is to keep it black and white first because they go with everything.

4. Play with Textures

By mixing and matching different textures, your gym outfits will be imbued with elements of interest that will prevent your looks (even your monotone outfits) from looking boring.

This styling trick is often used by fashionistas to make outfits more visually interesting, so why not copy it to bring some uniqueness into your gym looks?

To do this, you can start by wearing workout clothes that are in a unique texture, like the leggings shown in the picture. You can also search for items with mixed textures.

5. Be Detail-Oriented

Details like those patterns and cut-outs on these black leggings make your outfits look cooler!

The last tip is to find sportswear with some eye-catching details that make them different from their peers, and in turn, make your outfits stand out.

This is a more low-key way of making your outfits look more interesting since details usually only make up a small portion of the whole item, but it’s the little things that make them special.

Details come in all shapes and sizes, and they include

  • Colored highlights
  • Stripes
  • Mesh panels
  • Even a cute little logo

For example, instead of going with plain leggings in a solid color, consider a pair with cut-outs or a pair that has stitching in a different hue.

All in all, if you find your gym outfits a little dull, then maybe it’s time to step out of your comfort zone and try something unexpected. It is only through trying new things that you will find what suits you best and what you really like.

Naturally, comfort is key when it comes to sportswear. You want to make sure that you can comfortably exercise in those looks, and you should never sacrifice comfort for style.

Another important thing to keep in mind is to wear your outfit of choice with confidence, as that is crucial to looking good in anything, and it cannot be emphasized enough.

So, have these tips in mind next time you’re putting together a gym outfit or shopping for new gym apparel, and maybe combine items in a way you normally wouldn’t or buy things you have never tried before.

Who knows, you might surprise yourself and find your new favorite workout uniform.
